After attending two VSN events in the last year I am continually encouraged by the eager heart of those in this network to reach intergenerationally. Established professionals eager to help, advise and teach abound here and I am truly blessed to be able to watch their example.
Their example has not been lost on me and I wanted to share something that I and some of my younger professional counterparts have been developing.
For the past two and a half years myself and several friends from college have been working on an innovative project that we hope will provide unique experience and professional training to young filmmakers. Using a peer-to-peer training model we're hoping to create a synergy among young artists who are interested in pursuing film that fosters their potential as leaders as well as creatives.
Epicenter Pictures combines technical training with a life sized "full-set" experience to teach the craft of filmmaking to high school and college students. After two years of running pilot projects and developing our programs we are excited to announce this summer will kick off with our first ever Summer Film Camp. Hosted at the University of Denver in Colorado the camp promises to be an exciting time of training and networking for the students as they learn theory and turn around and apply it on a live set. Additionally we are working with local professionals to set up special sessions, Q&A panels and networking evenings through out the two week camp.
We would very much appreciate prayers as we finish lining up details for the camps. Also, If you or anyone you know in the 14-20 age range is interested in film production send them our way! All the info is up at EpicenterPictures.com.
Thank you for casting this vision and helping to define my generation. It is especially a blessing to the team working with Epicenter.
The purpose of this group is to discuss and share best practices on how to increase awareness, connect with your "audience" and spread the message of Christ broader through your visual tools and resources.
